- Name and Job Title: Kelli Kurtz- Human Resources Generalist
- Company Name/Industry: Kinze Manufacturing, Agriculture/Manufacturing
- How long have you been in the HR field? 2017- present
- What inspired you to pursue a career in HR? I’ve always been naturally inclined toward a people-oriented profession. HR gives me the chance to make a direct, positive impact on employees’ well-being and day-to-day experiences—whether that’s through resolving issues, implementing programs, or simply being a supportive presence. I appreciate that HR is inherently cross-functional and provides the opportunity to be a large driver of change in an organization. It’s very fulfilling to work in a field that’s constantly evolving and full of opportunities to learn.
- How has being a member of EIHRA impacted your career? Being part of EIHRA has been a great way to stay connected and up to date on what’s happening in the HR world. The resources, networking, and discussions keep me fresh on current topics and best practices. I also joined the certification study group when pursuing the SHRM-CP, which I credit a lot of my exam success to— it really helped me prepare, and being able to talk through questions and topics with a small group of HR professionals was incredibly valuable.
- What’s a hobby/interest you enjoy outside of work? I love to read, travel, and spend time outdoors. One of my big goals is to hike in all 63 U.S. National Parks—I’m at 18 so far and always looking forward to the next adventure!
- If you weren’t in HR, what would be your dream job? I could definitely see myself being a travel or event planner. I really enjoy researching and organizing details to create memorable and unique experiences throughout my travels, and it would be exciting to lead those trips for others as well. On the event side, I’ve always loved a themed party and seeing the vision come to life.
