1. What inspired you to get involved with Eastern Iowa SHRM and serve on the board?
I joined Eastern Iowa SHRM back in 2024 because I’ve always believed strongly in the power of
systems and community. I wanted to contribute and grow with a group of HR professionals that are
geared toward shared-learning, empowerment, growth, networking, and support. Serving on this
board feels like a natural extension of that purpose.
2. What do you enjoy most about working in HR or your specific specialty area?
My greatest passion lies in the people. I love the people-forward parts of HR, especially in helping
businesses create a thriving workplace where employees feel empowered, heard, and their growth is prioritized. My background in mental health and coaching shows up constantly in how I approach HR and employee experience design. It’s such a refreshing experience talking to employees who love
where they work and thrive personally and professionally in their workplaces.
3. What is one HR trend, challenge, or topic you are most excited about or watching closely in 2026?
I am hearing lots of chatter about the exit of Hustle Culture and employers being pushed to pursue
more flexible, fair, and employee well-being focused initiatives. With topics like pay transparency,
burnout, return to office dynamics, and AI use reshaping the workplaces we work in, this will push
HR and businesses to think systemically, compassionately, and strategically, and I am here for it!
4. What’s one fun fact about you that most people wouldn’t guess?
I have read more than 500 Pride and Prejudice variations and sequels.
5. What do you hope members gain from being part of Eastern Iowa SHRM?
I hope that our members feel a sense of belonging, connection, and more confidence in their HR
journeys. At times the HR field can feel pretty lonely and isolating, and my hope with Eastern Iowa
SHRM is that it provides a space for HR professionals to know they aren’t alone and, in pairing with
SHRM, have access to a multitude of resources and support in their roles.
